Kitui shares its borders with seven counties; Tharaka-Nithi and Meru to the north, Embu to the northwest, Machakos and Makueni to the west, Tana River to the east and southeast, and Taita-Taveta to the south. When visiting the county, you get to enjoy scenic routes of the Yatta Plateau while driving down well-made windy roads. During our visit we identified five places that we recommend as worth staying when visiting the county whether on a business trip or a family vacation.
Parkside Villa
This is one of the large hotels in Kitui with something for everyone. The three-star hotel has 120 rooms, well sized ranging standard rooms to luxury executive suites which are 25 in total. The hotel also has four Restaurants and four conference rooms with a capacity of 400 PAX. When staying at the hotel you can also access the outdoor swimming pool and the 24-hour gym, as well as the hotel bar and lounge for relaxation outside of your room. All bookings include bed and breakfast but with the option of bumping up to half or full board.
San Marino
Hotel San Marino is suitable for both business and leisure travellers. They make sure guests enjoy their stay by ensuring each room and suite available to book are hospitable and cater for one’s needs. They have also included rooms that are wheelchair friendly and suitable for those with special needs. The hotel also caters for honeymooners who can book Honeymooners’ Super King Suite and can enjoy the jacuzzi spa which is included in the room.
Each booking includes bed and breakfast, which guests get to dine in the hotel restaurant and when in need of entertainment, they can select to entertain themselves in three of the chill spots: Kitindo Terrace Bar, Club Marino, or The VIP Lounge.For conferences bookings they have a room that can accommodate up to 60 guests at a go.
Kitui Premier Resort
This is a hotel that offers it all from a wellness spa to a salon & barber shop. Guests can book to stay either at a single, double, or executive room, or if the booking is for a big group there is also the option to rent a full apartment either 2-bed or 3-bed. Guests can also enjoy eating at the resort’s restaurant that caters for both non-vegetarian and vegetarian eaters. Other facilities one can enjoy is also access to the gym if it’s a corporate booking they also have conference halls and boardrooms where meetings can be facilitated. Those who are visiting as a family their kids can have fun at the kid’s playground.
Kitui Villa Ltd
This is a 3-star hotel which with every booking breakfast is included and enjoyed in the hotel’s restaurant. All the different rooms are adequate in size, and they boast deep soaking tubs too. Guests also have access to a 24-hour fitness centre and an outdoor pool. Other amenities include a bar/lounge, 24-hour room service, and dry cleaning.
Everlasting Garden
This is an Airbnb accommodation that can either be booked in its entirety or you can book the size required. The house provides a sense of tranquillity while surrounded by a serene garden where guests can sit and interact while basking in the sun. We recommend booking the house in its entirety, if you’re a big group. Bookings made are self-catering, but they have an inhouse chef and the kitchen services can be added on to your booking to cater for whatever meals you require. This house has 10 rooms split between twin rooms and executive rooms with bathrooms included. One can also book the garden space for events as they often attract small team bookings from various organisations and establishments.
